Carbon advisory in practice

From project to Carbon Tax Offset

South African entities exposed to Carbon Tax can offset part of their liability with verified carbon credits. We manage that process end to end:

Identify & contract

We identify and contract the carbon credit project alongside our project partners.

Validate & register

Independent validation and registration under Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard (VCS).

Implement & monitor

The project is implemented, with emission reductions monitored and independently verified.

Issue

Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) are issued once the emission reductions are confirmed.

List & trade

Credits are listed as Carbon Tax Offsets (CTOs) on the Carbon Offset Administration System (COAS) and traded to Carbon Tax-liable South African entities.

Retire

The buyer retires the CTO against their Carbon Tax obligation, backed by a Letter of Authorisation.

Hedmenn Strauss is a QCTO-accredited Skills Development Provider (SDP070726204903), accredited from July 2026 to June 2031 to train the technical workforce South Africa’s solar sector needs — including the technicians who keep the assets we manage running.
